Michael Millenson
Michael L. Millenson, president of Health Quality Advisors, is internationally recognized as a leader in promoting the systematic use of information to make care better, safer and more patient-centered. His 1997 book, Demanding Medical Excellence: Doctors and Accountability in the Information Age, inspired the first “zero harm” initiative and was cited by the New York Times in its editorial on the "To Err is Human" report. Michael also helped launch the Leapfrog Group and was a founding member of the Chicago Patient Safety Forum and a board member of its successors.
Michael currently serves on the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, as well as on a National Academy of Medicine workstream examining health system financial incentives. For many years he was adjunct faculty at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Earlier in his career, Michael was nominated three times for a Pulitzer Prize as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune.
