Amy Cotton

Senior Vice President, Patient Safety & Quality, RWJBarnabas Health

Amy Cotton joined RWJBarnabas Health in May 2024 as Senior Vice President, Patient Safety & Quality. Her primary responsibilities include system-wide quality management and high reliability organizing for safe, quality care delivery. Dr. Cotton has 15 years’ executive experience leading system clinical quality and patient safety performance improvement, safety strategy and providing clinical operational support across the continuum of healthcare. Her experience as a clinician includes 15+ years as a nurse practitioner in family and internal medicine settings as well as 10 years as a bedside hospital nurse. Dr. Cotton obtained her doctoral degree in executive nursing leadership from the Mass General Institute for Health Professions in Boston and her undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees at the University of Maine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has served on local, state and national boards in various nursing and community health organizations. She holds national certifications including Certified Professional in Patient Safety, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and is a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt.
